Original 40s version of this all time classic shape which Ray Ban would patent later on in the 50s, calling it the wayfarer. This is handy as a universal reference point for everyone, but also creates the illusion of total ownership of the style. Ray Ban no more invented it than they own the rights to the humpty dumpty nursery rhyme. Earlier in the 20C these forthright glasses would've been made from tortoise shell and numerous brown and black colours, but as plastics developed further, this attractive crystal variation stepped forward in an attempt to satisfy demand for women which is ever so slightly yellow. They have a very strong and convincing vintage atmosphere to them that is unmistakeable and a superior standard of production. Used and pre owned.
